Last week, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that the Hamilton New Zealand Temple would be rededicated on 16 October 2022. The temple was closed in 2018 for extensive remodeling and seismic upgrades. This announcement has been widely anticipated by members and friends of the Church. The Hamilton.

The Hamilton New Zealand Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the first Mormon temple built in the Southern Hemisphere. It was announced in 1955 and dedicated in 1958. It is a beautiful example of modern architecture and is considered a historic temple by the Church and a heritage listed structure in the Hamilton region.

Nearly 64 years since its doors first opened, the dates for the open house and rededication of the Hamilton New Zealand Temple are announced by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple will be rededicated on Sunday, October 16, 2022, by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
